I got my SS S2 AW which came with Milanese band, but I also got Nike band for working out. Is the band swapping mechanism made for daily swapping? I am curious how this is will hold up after 2-3 years? Should I be concerned?

I bet MTBF is above 5000.

EDIT: correct typeo meant to type MTBF not NTBF.

I think the mechanism consists of a small spring and maybe a magnet to two? I wouldn't sweat it. I swap straps multiple times daily and never had a problem. Been doing it that way with the 4 AWs I've owned.

Agree. I swap bands almost daily too and no issues.

I switch bands every day and I don't forsee this being an issue. Just make sure you're cautious on how you remove the bands.

I have the Aluminum Fog sports AW 3 ($350) and I bought a Nomad band that has steel watch lugs (maybe this is for the SS AW only?). I worry having a band like this will wear out the watch faster than the strap that it came with. Any comments on this - because it has a stainless steel lug.

I know I probably shouldn't worry but makes it hard to keep this wrist band on. Maybe you guys/gals can help with that. I feel like I'm wearing out my watch less with my $9 OULUOQI rubber band and the included Apple Watch rubber band.

I tried two nomad bands at Best Buy. They fit tighter than the oem bands. I was concerned it would cause wear on the watch case so I decided to stay with the oem bands. There are more than enough of those to meets most anyone’s style but, they are considerably more expensive.

I wouldn't be.

There really isn't much to wear out.

It appears the design was to be highly reliant on the bands portion of the locking mechanism to make it the point of failure (if there ever was one). The release button just makes the channel you slide the band into a flush surface. The band itself has springs in it that keep that locking lug in place.

I clean the band and watch portion of the lug when I swap bands to make sure sweat/grit/chemicals from pools/water/etc isn't in there. I've made it a habit so it only takes me like a minute or so.

I have changed bands daily for a few years. I have never had a problem with the watch. I have, however, had a few band adapters fail--but they are easy to replace.

The band lugs will fail before the Apple Watch port does. As matter fact, as somebody as myself who frequents the Apple Watch forum, I have never read of anyone having failure with the band port on the Apple Watch since its inception in 2015. I have read that some bands lugs become locked in the band port, but those are usually third party bands that are problematic.

The only problems I have had with band swapping are:
  1. Cheap third party did not build to the right spec and the attaching hinge is too small, making for a rickety connection to the base of the watch. Or too large and doesn't fit.
  2. The bands have a silver finish and look weird on the Space Black. Really hard to find dark connectors that don't disrupt the natural finish of the Space Black at the base.
