I plan on buying a new MBP soon and I want to use an external drive for all my files (music photos etc...) Right now I have a desktop PC that I plan to keep even after I buy my MBP. I was wondering what I need to do in order to swap files back and forth between the MBP and the PC on my external drive. I need to be able to rean and write files onto the drive using both computers and be able to transfer files from the Mac to the PC and vice versa...HELP?!?!?!?!?:confused:

Just format your external drive as FAT32, and both Mac and PC can read and write to it. NTFS can be read by the Mac, but not written to. So... FAT32 formatted external drive, and you're good to go.

You could install NTFS-3G on the MBP and write to NTFS. There are a few gotchas in doing so since NTFS partitions will be recognized as NTFS-3G partitions and some utilities won't work.

Ok, never mind, stick with FAT32 or network.

Cheers,
