Hi all,

Just wondering if this is actually possible.
Coz imma considering gettting a Dual-Layered DVD burner and plonking into my G5, since the internal drives are somewaht cheaper than the external ones, im just wondering if you can swwap the "stock" superdrive and replacing it with another?

Cheers

Yea, you can swap it, but thats not the problem.

The problem is wether or not Apple has included drivers for said device in 10.3.

I seriously doubt it, but you never know.

should be no problem I guess since Toast allready supports it, I think apple will follow & probably you won't be able to use diskburner or burn out of iTunes because it's no 'apple' drive but I can be wrong at that end ;-)

but watch out since the front of the tray has been removed on the current superdrive to fit trough the door, so if you buy a new one you'll have to take that piece off...
