Swapping SIM Cards?

Hi,

My friend has a Sony Erricson K850i and he's just wondering (he's on Rogers). If he put his SIM card into an iPhone/iPhone 3G/3GS, would the phone work? His plan has no Internet or 3G, but he has voice time, and what not. Would the plan he has work with the iPhone? Also, if he attempted using the internet on 3G, I'd assume it wouldn't work.

But, if he did it on Wi-Fi, would it? What if the phone is unlocked?
