I accidentally got sweat on the lightning cable. If I plug it in to my iPhone, will it somehow damage the iPhone or corrode it?

Wipe it down with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab while not plugged in. Let it dry. It will be fine.
Is it safe to use a dry microfiber cloth and wipe it? If I don't have rubbing alcohol on me right now is there an alternative and is it safe to plug in right now before doing anything since it has dried out by now?

Yes, the cloth will do the trick.
It really wasnt a big issue for the port in the first place, just being extra safe/reducing amount of gunk that builds up in those holes!

Also try to find out the reasons in order to understand why that happened.
Maybe you need to have something done in order to prevent that happening again.
