Like many open water swimmers, I have trouble sighting especially in ocean swells.
While there are some new goggles arriving soon with direction assistance from a kickstarter project - this got me wondering:
Could the watch not send a series of regular haptic vibrations at a set interval to a swimmers wrist to help them swim in a straight line ?
- ideally, a single vibrate to indicate on course
- a double vibrate to indicate off course to the left
- a triple vibrate to indicate off course to the right
or some combination thereof.
While the watch has GPS, it does not have a compass (from what I understand).
I'm hoping that with the GPS and accelerometers, one could still build an app that holds a steady bearing / course that the user selects at the start.
Perhaps this is wishful thinking, but I for one would marvel at such an app.
