I used the apple watch during my swim the other day and have a couple of thoughts. I've attached some screenshots for reference.
- I think it's great that it records splits. However, I think an option to change the distance and collapse/expand distances would be ideal.
For example, over 800m you could have the breakdown as follows, (where > represents expandable)
800m 12:00. >
400m 6:00. >
100m 1:30. >
50m. 0:45
100m. 0:45
200m 1:30. >

- as seen in the 1000m workout, the last split is inaccurate because it includes the time it takes for me (from touching the wall) to unlock the watch and end the workout. Resulting in a longer split time. 3 things could help with this. The less complicated way would be on my end, I could push off the wall an additional time to create the consistent split for that last 100m. However would this then result in a 1025m workout?
The best solution, although I imagine it to be the most complicated, would be for the Watch to detect that I have touched the wall and stopped moving. An auto pause, for swimming. This feature is available for cycling/running. Another option could be a pressable shortcut on the watch, for example pressing the two side buttons together.
- In the 400m workout, I did 4x100m on intervals of 2:00 with splits around the 1:15 mark. Interesting how the watch recorded this, as it captured the first split at 1:15, followed by 2 intervals at 2:00, and then the last time of 2:40. Whilst that all adds up to the correct time of 8:00, I'm a bit confused as to what it's been thinking. Again, as mentioned above, it's be good if there was a way to record strictly the split times and not the intervals.
