We have a 20-inch iMac (2008 model) and would like to mount it so it's flat against a side wall when not in use, but swings out 90 degrees for use. Along the lines of this:

Has anyone done this?

that mount kit for the 21.5 inch imac would be great if they made it so the stand part was detachable. the way its designed though makes that impossible. looks a little ridiculous with the stand floating in the air like that. doesnt look right to me.

I suppose you could amputate the stand at the back with a hacksaw. I hope it doesn't bleed. You would need to explain to the nice iMac why you were mutilating it in this way, and then put it under deep general anesthesia(pull the plug). Hopefuly it wouldn't have any phantom pain from the removal when it wakes up.
