iPhone 16 Pro Max Swipe down search acting weird?

When I swipe down on my iPhone 16 Pro Max and start to type in characters to say bring up an app, instead of giving me a little delay so I could type something like 'W-O-R-D"' and it brings up MS Word, I type W and I get W apps immediately; then I type O and get apps starting with O, etc.

Did I change a setting or something? How do I change it to work like it used to? This isn't helpful at all. Thanks!!

It's crashing and only on the letter 's' - I was trying to type 'shortcut'. It's this problem:

Mine does not do this (but it does have the screen issue lol)
