This is probably not news to anyone, but I accidentally discovered the following...

My phone is set up to send text, and emails notices to my locked screen.

When I have several notices I can unlock the screen by swiping across the specific notification I want to view first.

Swiping the notification from the locked screen works just like the swiping the 'slide to unlock'.

Probably works the same on the iOS devices but more applicable to me on the phone.

This was introduced as part of iOS 5 and is certainly quite handy.

EDIT: It's handy but not perfect, as was discussed in this thread.
