Hello everybody,

I am on the iPhone upgrade program with my iPhone 8 Plus, when the new iPhone gets released I would like to switch from the iUP to the Verizon's one. Is there an easy way to do it? Besides paying the remaining balance of the iUP loan and selling it?

Somebody told me that I could "upgrade" with the iUP and then return the new iPhone 10 minutes later for a full refund. Problem is that there are a lot of moving parts in this and it sounds like a hassle.

Thank you all!

Honestly what I would do is just try and get your iPhone swapped at the Genius Bar since it’s under warranty and then sell it on Craigslist/OfferUp. Use that money to pay off the balance of the iUP. You can do carrier financing for your new phone before you even sell the 8 Plus or pay off the iUP.

Technically you’re right. If you get the new iPhone as an “iUP Upgrade” you can return the new phone right after and your 8 Plus loan will be closed and the tax/1st month payment on the new phone will be returned. Then you can buy a new phone with carrier financing.

Either way one of the plans will work. Both are a tad bit of a hassle.
