Switch from Parallels to Fusion with BootCamp?

Is switching from Parallels to Fusion, with a BootCamp install, an easy thing? From MR's banner ads, I learned that Fusion has a $30 crossgrade option, and I'm wondering if that's a better choice than $40 for Parallels 4 upgrade.

But I'm wary of breaking the fragile ecosystem of Parallels / BootCamp / WinXP-Activation.
