Is it possible? I mean not swtiching off location based services, just the GPS.

The reason is, Maps TBT works flawlessly on iPad only using data. And the GPS sucks battery fast on my iPhone 4S, wouldn't it be a good idea just to use data for navigation on the iPhone too?

I have a 4s myself and I just don't have programs running. Make sure all the programs on your phone are not running in the background.

Nothing to do with other apps running. When I used Navigon the battery was empty in about an hour and the phone got really hot. It even once "killed" my battery on the 4, had to go thru a dozen reload cycles until it recovered mostly.

Apple maps is better, but TBT still drains the battery pretty quickly, I just wonder if it was the same if only 3G is used for location.
