Switch to Full Screen App using the Dock

When you have Safari or some other app open in full screen mode and you are working in a different desktop space you used to be able to click on the icon in the dock and it would switch spaces and go to the open application. That no longer happens in Mavericks, is there a way to bring back that functionality. I looked everywhere on the internet and could not find anything
