Over the weekend, the family made the jump from a previous carrier to T-Mobile, and after much debate I chose the XR to replace my 8+. The reason why I chose the XR over the XS was I couldn't justify spending the additional cost for the better screen/better camera. For me, the additional $250 just wasn't worth it for my needs. That being said, we bought the XS for the wife. Which for her, it was a better fit for her hands and she takes more pictures than i do, so it was the best phone for her. I've learned through all of this that with the increasing number of phones out there now, not one phone is best for everyone and you need to find the best phone suited for you and your needs.
All that being said, jumping from the 8+ to the XR, the only thing i miss is the 3D touch's ability to reply to Messages, deleting emails, and viewing a pop-up of my nest cam all in the notifications on the home screen. I understand that Apple is going to eventually do away with 3D touch completely, but i hope they find some alternative ways to deal with the functions it's leaving behind.
Is there a better way? maybe i just haven't found it yet. otherwise, i'm completely happy with the jump to the XR. just a better fitting phone in my hands, and as long as i don't compare my phone screen next to my wifes, the screen is just fine.
