i had just downloaded evernote and was browsing the site. i then looked up in the left hand corner and noticed 'safari' was up there. i am just curious if this is normal? (i downloaded evernote while in chrome)

i have only had my mac for a little more than 2 months. also, i am a middle aged man just learning home computing---had an old xp for about a year before i made switch.

Open Safari then click the Safari menu item at the top left of your screen and select Preferences. Now in the General tab look to see what your default browser is set to.

I'm guessing you have that set to Safari and you clicked something that opened in the default browser and that popped up Safari. Change that default browser to Chrome in the drop down there and it won't happen again.

There is some good info at this page from Apple that might be helpful making the transition from Windows.
