So I have the last gen iMac C2D and a PB G4, and I will probably be buying the family pack 10.5. What happens to all my custom setting (different icons here and there ie. released Leopard folders, etc) and other tweaks and preferences.

I haven't been here for any other cat swaps of the OS. Was it smooth sailing the previous time. Headaches for ages? Third party App disparities?

Curious and a little nervous...

It should be fine. if you are worried about issues after upgrading, wait a few months after its release to see if there are any problems.

Don't sweat it, all your settings and customizations will stay intact (unless you do a full clean install, which you don't need to do). But as a new switcher to Mac, I highly suggest you wait a couple of weeks after the release date and then monitor these forums to hear if there are any significant issues with the update that could affect you.
