Switching a Drive to Journalled Format

So I installed a new hard drive into my G4 PB about 6 months ago. Sometime since then, my hard drive has decided to "switch" itself from Journalled to non-Journalled. I don't exactly know what happened, but I definitely installed it journalled, and now it's not. This worries me because I can't verify my disk, and I don't need the performance of being non-Journalled, I need the security of being Journalled.

Is there any way to switch Journalled on without reformatting the drive or shelling out the cash for Tech Tool Pro?
