Switching Airport Extreme To Passive Mode???

I need help figuring out how to switch Airport Extreme to Passive Mode.

I am very new to the world of Apple Computers and could use the easiest step by step guide you Guys and Gals can muster.

I have a 15in MacBook Pro running Mac OS X version 10.5.8

What do you mean by passive mode? Bridge mode? What are you trying to accomplish?
