Switching between apps: Badge notification of the app icons missing?

When I double tap home button to switch between apps, iOS9 has a rather slow preview of the apps but unlike iOS8, the app icons no longer show you the badges with the number of notifications in red.
This means that when I'm switching between apps, I can no longer tell which apps have had notification.

Is this a feature or a bug?
