I have a Macbook which is setup with an external display. At the moment the external display is set to "the primary" screen and the Macbook the second.

I know in order to change the Macbook screen to the "primary" screen i have to go to System Preferences >> Displays >> Arrangements. But is there a way of automating the process so i can easily switch between the two (say with a icon in the dock). I have had a look through Automator, but nothing seems to fit the bill.

Anyone?

if you go to System Preferences >> Displays and check the box "show displays in menubar" then a little monitor icon will appear in the menubar that lets you change some display settings directly from it, I use it to quickly switch between mirrored and extended mode but I don't know if it will work for switching primary monitors or not
