Switching carriers at iPhone launch

At the last iPhone launch I had moved to android and sold my iPhones so I started with a new IUP this last time.

I still plan to move to Verizon at the next launch since doing it now seems to be a huge pain and would involve hard credit pulls.

When it comes time, how hard will it be to get the new phone and switch carriers at the same time?

I did the switch from ATT to T Mobile on launch night for the 7 without any hiccups online. Not sure if it's harder in store.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon when the 7 was launched. They had to pre-order when pre-ordering started. It only took a week after launch to get it. So it depends on availability and if they have to order the phone. You can do this online or go to any Verizon Store (better to go with the Corporate Store opposed to third party). If you do online, you'd have to wait till the pre-order starts to switch.
