I’m upgrading my wife’s Series 3 to a series 4. She has cellular on the Series 3 now and I was curious as to if I can switch the service over to this new watch or if I have to cancel the service and sign up for new service on this new watch. Anyone ever done this with AT&T? Thanks for any information.

Anyone ever done this with AT&T?

Well, I haven’t done it under AT&T. But my sister has Verizon... and I’m sure it applies to all cellular Apple Watches.

Once you reset the Series 3, make sure you keep the Cellular plan intact for the AW. That way when you add the Series 4 to the account.. you can use the Series 3 existing plan, it should transfer over. I was able to do that with my sister AW.

She had to send over her AW to Apple and it was given a refurbished one (I guess). But it was a straight forward process... I did it during a restaurant outing with the family.

Yeah, I’m on AT&T and it’s fairly easy. The most important thing is you need to “Unpair” the Series 3 BEFORE setting up the Series 4. That is where you get the option to “keep” the cellular plan when you reset the watch.

After you’re done unpairing the Series 3, when you activate the Series 4 it’ll ask something like “Is the cellular plan for xxx-xxx-xxxx for this watch?” Just say yes and within minutes the new watch will have cellular.
