Switching from Google Photos to Apple Photos

I am thinking of getting a Mac and want to switch my photos to Apple Photos and upload them to iCloud. They are all in folders or albums if you like and I want to just upload them in the same way. I have them downloaded from Google already.

Is this easy to do, will they automatically become albums under the Folder structure I have already or is it not as simple as that?
