Switching from iPhoto to Picasa

Hello. I have used iPhoto for a long time, my photos are all imported and managed by it.

I would like to switch to Picasa. I went into Picasa > File > Import from iPhoto. I am currently importing my iPhoto library into Picasa.

My question is, what problems can arise doing this and what precautions should I take to ensure no library gets messed up.

Ideally I'd like Picasa to manage my photo files and structure.
