Switching Internet Connection On & Off

It takes times to downloads updates for some programs and i wonder whether there is an Application that can switch off internet connection completely after sometime OR have the machine switch itself off while i sleep after sometime.I do not know how to that.Thanks.

For what purpose?

Either your router can be set to disconnect from the internet after some time when no down- or uploads are going on (inactivity, idle),
or you could go to System Preferences > Energy Saver >> Schedule and set a time to sleep.
