i have a question:
my mom is going to buy a 3Gs at the subsidized price and then give me the phone, and she is going to get my current 3G phone... but i was wondering how they would port the numbers over... when my phone would be filled with music and videos and it is supposed to be her new phone... will they just erase all of the info on the phone and activate it for her number?

that is what i assumed would happen... and then when activating the new 3Gs they would just put it under my number...

(does this make sense? and do you think that's how it will work? i talked to an AT&T rep yesterday and he told me people do this all the time [use another family member's account to buy a subsidized phone and then switch numbers] i just dont know how they would be able to do it)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

Just swap sim cards? maybe I'm misreading the question

simply put your sim card in the new iPhone and your moms in your old iPhone. It's no big deal when it comes to the music just plug it into itunes like you do yours now and sync it.
