I just replaced an all-in-one ADSL-modem/router/802.11g wireless access point with an ADSL modem and the new Airport Extreme Base Station.

I am happy with the perfomances and features of the new combo (my AppleTV is back to life), but not too happy with having to leave the modem and basestation always on.

My older equipment had an on/off button and I would typically switch it on for the evening. It would normally remain off at night or when I was away, unless a very large download was ongoing.

Any reason not to switch off the base station regularly?
