Hey there,

I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro (2010 model). A few months ago my superdrive started to act up. It starts spinning when I put a CD/DVD in, stops, starts spinning again, stops, and after 2 more tries it through's it back out... I've tried finding solutions for it, but until now nothing has worked...

Today I was offered a superdrive out of a friends broken 13" 2009 MacBook pro, but after looking at repair guides on ifixit, it said that MacBooks are only compatible with superdrives out of their own size range (eg. mine can only work with other superdrives of 15" models).
Does anybody know if this is true? I would guess that they should work, but before i take my MacBook appart, i wanted to check if anybody has had any experience with this.

Sorry if i thread like this already exists, but i looked and couldnt find anything,

Looking forward to the responses :)

The superdrive should work with your 2010 15 MPB, all you have to is replace the flex cable and the little bracket that connects next to it.
