is this possible with out starting over with a fresh drive?

i know we can add drives, but i want to switch to a different one so i can use the current one for something else....

anybody have any experience here?
thanks

You could in theory make a copy of your TM drive on a new drive, then rename it, reformat it and then name the new drive the exact same name as your old TM drive and have it go on as normal without having to resync everything.

Open Disk Utility> see pic> then drag the"old" TM drive into the 'Source' area>then drag the "new" TM drive into the 'Destination'> tick erase> Restore.. done after an hour...

edit: name the 'new' TM different from the old TM drive...

thanks for the responses,

so JohnNtBtl, you used the same name for the new volume also?

and iPhil, you mention specifically to not do that, do you encounter some sort of issue or something?
