Switching to dashboard annoyance

Hi all

Running OSX Lion 10.7.2 with everything updated. Every time I switch to dashboard (running calculator, 2 unit conversion, and and dictionary widget) and I select a widget, Lion escapes from the screen and I go back to my desktop (or whatever it was that I was running beforehand). Any ideas?
