If I understand correctly, FaceTime is using data connection. And there is no simultaneous voice and data on Verizon. So if I want to switch to FaceTime in the middle of the call, I'll need to hang up then call back using FaceTime option?

No simultaneous voice+data ONLY applies to using Verizon carrier signals. You can use voice or data on Verizon while simultaneously using WiFi.

Facetime only works with WiFi anyways.
