Hi,

I have never owned a Mac and have been eye-balling the Mac Pro. I like the idea of having RAID with 4 HDD's and 4GB of memory, however, when configuring the Mac Pro with RAID and 4GB of mem, the $$$ is over the top.

Is it possible to purchase RAID card, memory and HDD's from a third party vendor and install it in Mac Pro without voiding the warrenty?

Also, does anyone know if the RAID card that Apple sells, is it TRUE 100% hardware RAID?

Thanks for your help.

I know that you can upgrade the RAM and HDD yourself without voiding the warranty, and they will be much cheaper buying them from a third party (at least half of apples price). RAID card I have no idea about though

I can't comment about the RAID card. You will however save a good amount by buying RAM (I recommend Crucial) and hard drives yourself.

Good luck with your decision.

crucial has shady business practices. I would shop at datamem.com -- apple certified and great pricing.

Hard drives -- go to newegg.com and pop in some 750GBs.
