hi i just recently got a macbook

one question that particularly irks me is...

it's hard to explain. like, when you close a window, safari for example, and the little pull down window appears with the option of "Are you sure you want to close this window" or "do you want to save your tabs for next session" and there's buttons for yes/no/cancel/other options.

my question is, how do you switch options using the keyboard only? without having to use your mouse and clicking on the option. in windows, you could just alternate the highlighting of the options by pressing the left or right arrow keys, in mac, this doesn't happen.

so yea..really small question but it just BUGS me!

thanks for your help

...Good Question! I have had the same issue when I switched. Never found a short cut though... (now I just use the mouse)

anyone know?? :( or someone please reply saying that mac doesn't have this option..

I don't know if this helps, but whenever I have two options I just press "enter" affirm the dialog box. If I want to cancel what I did, I just press "esc".

i.e., When closing Safari with 2 or more tabs, a dialog box pops up with either a "cancel" or "close" button. OS X highlights the "close" button because it thinks you want to exit Safari. If you want to hit "cancel", just press "esc".

As for maneuvering through the options like Windows (using arrows), I have no idea. I don't even think there is even a way to do this. I wish I could be more helpful.

Thank you MarkMS, I actually did not know that.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the problem in which there are 3 options, such as when closing a word document....

"do you want to save the document"
yes, no, cancel

:(
