I was checking out the ipad 2 recently and was typing on it. I didn't have time to really get into it and was thinking the keyboard (graphical touch keyboard) looked quite basic on what was on offer.

For instance can you get the symbols like !@£$%^&*()_+{}[]:";'\?>< on there? As well as commas, colons and the like?

Cheers

I'm probably going to get one very soon.

Actually, the keyboard is pretty amazing. Not only do you get special keys, but you get macrons, other languages, etc. Virtual keyboards are hands down the most feature-rich input devices we've ever had.

In answer to your question, for the special keys, you just press the bottom left-corner button (.?123) for some of the basic ones, and from that menu press the left-side button (#+=) for more of the special characters.
