Sync all iTunes Match music to iPad?

My professor has an iTunes Match subscription and wants to sync all of his music to his new iPad. If he connects it via USB to his computer, it tells him he can't sync his music because it's being managed through iTunes Match. Does he literally have to tap the cloud icon to download each song one by one?

If he's paying for iTunes Match, his entire library (25,000 limit) will be available to play on his iPad without syncing. If he wants to play them while being offline, he will need to download them first.
