I keep getting messages on my iPad and Mac that some files are not syncing on iCloud. It demands my Apple ID password, but then the message comes back. I'd like it to leave me alone.

I do like that e-mail and Safari History sync, and that doesn't seem to get disrupted. I'm fine with the way that works, and don't need anything else to sync as far as I know.

How do I stop the "warning"?

How do you imagine they sync without using iCloud. Remember that iCloud is more than just iCloud Drive. You probably have other apps using iCloud. Just do the iCloud login unless you want to completely divorce yourself from Apple.

Here is a list of Apple things using iCloud: https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/icloud/mm203ae070a2/icloud. Do any of them apply to you? Then add all the 3rd party apps on your iPad and Mac...

@Gregg2 It isn't clear to me. Are you logging in your Apple ID and yet the device keeps asking for it again? Or are you not logging in?

If you don't log in, then @gilby101 has answered the question.

I am supplying the Apple ID password when prompted for it. Is that different from logging in?

But even after I comply with the request, it asks again. I don't Shut Down, so there's no reboot happening.

The request for the AID pw seems to pop up randomly.

Yes. The question was whether you are providing the information or else ignoring the request.

So, you are being prompted again after providing the information. I'm not sure what to recommend. See what others say. But this was an important point to clarify.

EDIT: If you search, there are 6 or 8 different troubleshooting steps to try. No need to list them here. My advice is try the easiest/least involved steps first.

EDIT #2: It occurs to me that this is related to the files that will not sync, and the device prompts you when the sync fails. I think I would move the files off the device and see if the requests stop. If so, then move one file back and see what happens, and then move another, etc.

It appears that syncing cannot be activated for some things if 2-factor authentication is not set up. I'm not doing that, so if that's the reason, and I'm not sure that it is, I'll live with the nagging message.
