yes, you can accomplish this with an automator action download.

After you download this open up Automator (applications/automator) and when it prompts you select "custom" .

Then click file-> import actions. Find the action you just downloaded and select it. Go to the sidebar and click on the "files and folders" section. In this section find the action that says "get specified finder items." and drag it to the empty space on the right.

Add both the documents folders that you want to sync into this action (you can only have two). Then find the "sync folders" action that you imported earlier and drag it under the previous action.

When you click "run" at the top it should synchronize the contents of both documents folders. If you want to save the workflow for later use you can click file->save and either specify if you want to save it as a workflow or an applications. If you click on a workflow it will open up an automator window like the one you see in front of you and you have to push "run" to have it work. If you save it as an application all you have to do is double click it and it will run the action.

Your completed workflow should look like this with two folders added in the first action.

Still current?

Hi - I just found this thread, and I'm wondering if the solution is still valid; that is, is it compatible with Snow Leopard? I'm essentially wanting to create a Dropbox cloud on our home wireless network - which is a LaCie Network Space drive connected to an Airport Extreme base station. Any current recommendations? Some of the files that I'd like to sync are DEVONthink databases. There is something about that file structure (packages?) that I don't yet understand. Thanks in advance for any thoughts! Keith

My apologies for replying to such an old thread, but this is the only one could find that definitively discusses this particular use for the sync folders action.

I have setup the automator actions as described in this thread and when testing it out, keep getting this error:

Sorry, I can only sync two folders

So, assuming I misunderstood something, I remove one of the folders from the "Specified finder items" action. Now I get the error:

Sorry, I only work on folders. The second item you selected is not a folder.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I would appreciate help with this.
