As we know you can no longer sync devices running iOS 7 on A4 devices and up with iTunes but you can still sync even the latest iPhone 6S with iOS 9 with apps like iPhoto 09 on PowerPC Macs. I've now found out you can sync music to these devices through Spotify and the Spotify iOS app. Now I know this isn't the best thing as you'll need Spotify premium to really take advantage of it, and you'll need to use the Spotify app as opposed to the Music app. But this seems to be the last method of syncing music over and it does work.
Currently Spotify is offering a 3month deal for $0.99 if you want to try this. This, I'm assuming may also work with local files in your iTunes library and could move that into the Music app but I'm unsure as I do not have spotify premium to fully test this
