Sync Leopard Mail and Snow Leopard Mail

Can I sync Leopard Mail with Snow Leopard mail reliably? I have one machine I can't upgrade to SL (PPC), but I use both machines. I've synced from Snow Leopard to Leopard, and it worked without corruption or loss. Just wondering if this is a bad idea.
