SYNC Movies to 1ST GEN

Hello, my plan is to purchase a 1ST GEN Apple TV, upgrade to a Broadcom Crystal and then also upgrade the hard drive as well. What is the easiest way to store non-iTunes movies to the hard drive? The only reason I cannot stream everything is because my internet has a monthly data cap and it's very low. Thank you!
