Sync painfully slow and unresponsive at times

So all of a sudden my iphone sync is painfully slow, it would take 2 minutes to put 8 songs on, and during which itunes is unresponsive or jumpy at best. I haven't changed anything, restarted the phone computer and reinstalled itunes, all to no benefit.

Thoughts?
