I run an iPhone 6s, and an iMac with 10.13.6
When I connect via cable and let sync go all is ok, but then it begins to down load all my photos from the iMac to the phone. I don't want that as I have shousands of photos on the Mac. But when I stop the down load, the entire sync is terminated.
I do want new photos from the iPhone to load into the Mac.

Anyone, help.

In iTunes on the left side go under photos and make sure you uncheck that you want to upload the photos to your phone.
