Hello,
I have an iPhone 4s (iOS7.0.2) that I'm trying to sync with iTunes 11.1, and it's been driving me nuts. The sync successfully starts and "appears" to be transcoding and copying files from the 320Kbps to 128Kbps version for the iPhone, however, when iTunes "says" it is finished syncing and I disconnect the iPhone, only a few songs are available (most songs are grayed out).
When I proceed to reconnect the phone to the PC and try to resync with iTunes, it reports that 48GB (which is the total space consumed by the ~12,000 songs) is marked as "Other" and it won't erase the "other" content and resync the music.
To resolve this, I need to restore the iPhone (completely erase and try to sync). So far I've restored the phone 6 times this weekend, all with the same result as discussed above.
This issue is driving me nuts. It's pretty much been this way since I've upgraded to iOS7.
