Sync Problem

I am trying to sync my iphone 7plus to my macbook pro. Everything is fine until it reaches " syncing -----'s phone" when it stops. What am I doing wrong. I have re-booted both devices, tried another cable, tried wirelessly, and authorised itunes. Any help would be really appreciated.

Have you tried different USB C ports ? My iPhone 8 can't sync when connected to the right port which is not next to the jack port. Any other port works fine for me
