Sync resets podcast playback position

If I stop a podcast in the middle, and then sync my iPhone, the podcast's playback position gets reset to the beginning. Very frustrating, especially as I don't even have iTunes set to sync any podcasts (I prefer to manage them solely on the phone).

Any advice on how to avoid this?

I have the same problem, it is very annoying. Syncing also resets all of my listened to podcasts on my iDevices as not listened to.

edit: If you right-click on the podcast and do a Get Info, then go to Options, there is an option to remember position. For mine it is a little confusing because Remember Position is set to "Yes" but the check box is not checked next to it. Checking it and will see if it works.
