Sync Select "Events" from iPhoto 09 from one MacBook to another

Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this... I have a Early 08 BlackBook and I was wondering what the easiest way is to transfer/sync select events from iPhoto? I just upgraded to iLife 09 and the other MacBook has 08, I could upgrade it easily if need be.

1. Create folders on an external hard drive for the events.
2. From the BlackBook select each event and export them to the corresponding folder.
3. import the folders on the new MacBook.
4. ???
5. Profit.

I think you'll have to updrage the iPhoto version so they are the same. I don't believe that once the photos have been upgraded for the newer software that they are backward compatible.
