Even though two of our iPhones have had no trouble syncing via WiFi with iTunes running on our iMac, the third one resolutely refused to sync unless tethered by a USB cable.
At various times over the last year I’ve tried the numerous remedies proffered by Apple’s support site and the others. They were ALL a complete waste of time. Then yesterday I tried Resetting the Network Settings on that iPhone. And a miracle happened — that iPhone now has the ability to Sync via WiFi like our other iPhones.
Exactly why this worked, when all the other “fixes” did not, is still a bit of a mystery. But one noticeable difference is that after Resetting the Network Settings the name of the errant iPhone changed — from “iPhone 5s” to simply “iPhone”.
