I have a 2015 MacBook Pro with a 256 GB SSD. Because it was my primary computer for a few years, and I had over 700 GB of content, and because I wanted everything available locally, I got an external 1 TB SSD, Velcroed it to my MBP (don't ask), and made it my system drive. Last year, though, I got a 2019 iMac with a 2 TB Fusion drive, and made it my primary Mac. I no longer need all my files on my MBP. I removed the Velcroed SSD, made the MBP's 256 GB SSD the system drive, and updated macOS and all my software to their current versions. All is well in that respect. However, my iCloud Documents folder reflects the structure and contents it had before I made the external 1 TB SSD the system drive. Obviously, I don't want that to overwrite all the changes I've since made. How do I update my MBP's iCloud Documents folder structure to reflect what's in iCloud and on my iMac, so that I can download to my MBP only those files I need to work on?

Never mind... I decided to go back to my 1 TB external SSD. Using my MBP's internal SSD, Office 365 told me that my account didn't allow me to write files on that device, only read (maybe it's installed on too many devices), and it kept asking me for my keychain password, which I don't know. If I decide to go back to using the internal SSD, I'll do a fresh install of macOS and everything else, but it's not worth the hassle at the moment.
