My buddy has a iPhone 3GS that has never been connected to a computer. I believe ATT activated it before he left the store and he's been using/adding contacts to it ever since.

How can we hook up his iPhone to iTunes and update to the new firmware without him loosing his 260 some contacts & or photos?

For some reason I'm thinking that when he hooks it up iTunes will see that it's never been synced and delete everything.

Ideas?

Is he using Mac or Windows? Easiest way, buy PhoneView or similar and copy everything off the phone manually.

I took a chance and synced it and (I guess) since it has never been connected to that computer, it synced fine.

He's using Windows machine. Those programs sound useful so I'll keep them in mind.

Thanks.
